How the program works: This free life skills program is offered for 12 weeks. Sessions are held once a week for two hours each. A trained life skills facilitator leads the sessions; guest speakers who have expertise in young parenting issues are scheduled periodically to share their knowledge with you. Snacks are offered at each session and a variety of resource materials are provided to parents at no cost. On site child minding is provided at no cost to the participants.
Where is the program offered? G.A.P. is offered in various locations across Peel Region; our most common locations are Ontario Early Years Centres and Youth Drop in Centres.

Goals of the Program: ♦ Provide a nurturing non-judgmental environment ♦ Provide opportunities for family growth and development ♦ Improve parent’s confidence and self image ♦ Provide a connection to community resources & programs ♦ Provide a supportive learning environment for mothers ♦ Decrease isolation of young mothers and their children ♦ Provide information that will improve parenting abilities ♦ Provide life skills training ♦ Assist in building a network of supportive parenting peers
Whois served by the program? The GAP program is for young moms of children from 0 to 6 years of age who meet the following criteria:
•Young mom in need of life skills support •Lacking in self help and/or parenting skills • Struggling with personal relationships •Enjoy group interactions •Able to attend weekly sessions •Isolated socially, geographically or linguistically
Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
