Being a father means dealing with others besides your child. In this workshop we will discuss fathering and mothering and if there is a parenting “instinct”. Outside the immediate family there are relatives, the workplace, and your community that all come into play in fathering. There is something unique about fathering within the parenting picture. We will discuss learning about being a father and then look at the special impact fathering has on the developing child. Dealing effectively with the stresses of fathering is our goal. In this workshop we will look at the different aspects of stress itself and then examine how we can manage those stresses successfully. Disciplining our children is seldom an easy matter. We will look at the issue of authority and also how it fits in with our notions of masculinity. Difficult topics like aggression and spanking will also be discussed.
