Pregnant? Scared?

Finding out you are pregnant is probably one of the scariest times in a young women’s life. There are so many questions and decisions to make in a short period of time. Everyone’s situations are unique and there are no easy answers. The following are common questions young women have when they call.

“I don’t know if I am ready to have a baby”
Having a baby is a life changing experience. There are so many ways you can be supported throughout your pregnancy. Parenting and adoption are both very difficult choices to make. So many things are to be considered. What is best for you? What is best for baby? We can help you look into these options and what the reality of parenting/adoption really looks like.

“What will my family and friends say?”
A good friend will be supportive and understanding. Although, they maybe unsure of how to help you.
Some women find themselves pressured by family, partner or friends to have an abortion. This is not helpful, don’t be pressured into an abortion if you know that it is wrong for you. Talk to someone who knows what alternative options you have.

“What if my parents kick me out of the house”?
All families react in different ways, you know your family best. If you feel it maybe unsafe to tell your parents, please not hesitate to call Vita Center. Having a plan for telling your family and having a place to go is a good idea.

“How can I finish school if I’m pregnant, then parenting?”
You can! Many young women do. There are different ways you can go about completing or continuing your education while you are pregnant and/or parenting. We can help.

“Is the baby's daddy going to stick around?”
Guys can pretty freaked out too, when they find out their partner or (ex) is pregnant.
If he gets to find out more about what to expect and have some of his questions answered, he may choose to stick around. Ultimately you must make the best decision for you and baby.

“Is this the end of my life, as I know it?” (This is a very common thought)
No, your life is not over, you can still accomplish your goals and dreams. It is not easy, no matter what you choose. Having support and someone who understands can make life a lot easier!
